COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Gary Philoctète has over 25 years of professional experience in the fields of relief and development in the areas of water and sanitation, health, energy, education, income generating programs, emergency response and community engagement. Civil engineer by profession, Gary worked with CARE-International as Assistant Country Director for Program and Save the Children in Haiti as Operations Director and participated directly in a broad range of development initiatives, program design and implementation both in rural and urban settings. 

Gary recently served as the Country Director and Vice President for Haiti Operations of J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO) and, in this role ensured leadership to all emergency response programs including family relocation, post-disaster housing retrofit and construction, provision of medical services and, oversaw administration, finance and logistics. He provided leadership and facilitated J/P HRO’s programs transition from emergency response to development with a strong emphasis on community participation. 
 
Gary has extensive knowledge and experience in project management, fundraising strategy development, monitoring and evaluation. He continues to support many organizations in the design and implementation of community participation strategies, community networks and communication mechanisms.
